St Clement's High School

Festival Too!

Three of our students had a fantastic opportunity and musical experience last weekend to showcase the wide range of talent that we have at St Clements.

The school was invited to submit a performance for King’s Lynn’s ‘Festival Too’, but initially, everyone was too nervous to volunteer. However, only two weeks ago, Fiona Marshall who runs our student choir, encouraged the three girls – Lauren Neal and Georgia Bottone from Y10, along with Georgia Brooks from Y11 – to put a 20 minute set together.

The girls worked extremely hard - both in their own time and at lunchtimes - and managed to pull together 8 songs, including ‘Valerie’ by the Zutons/Amy Winehouse. They had a final rehearsal on Friday lunchtime, then it was off to King’s Lynn for the soundcheck. Because they’d never played together as a group, they struggled to come up with a name, but finally settled on ‘Girls & Gear’.

The sun shone, there was a good turnout including staff and fellow students and the event was very professional, with a full concert sound and light system. The 3 girls did the school, their parents and of course themselves very proud. Hopefully, they may continue to work together in the future.
