Religious Studies Curriculum
The vision for the RS department is to ensure all students leave school with an understanding and respect of other beliefs, cultures and opinions. It is essential in today’s world to have an understanding of why and how other cultures worship and behave, to development tolerance towards everyone. I believe that through RS, our students can be inspired by individuals as role models, for example Malala, to stand up for injustice and intolerance in the world.
We have a challenging curriculum that spans all six of the main world religions, as well as lesser known religions and humanism. We cover beliefs, teachings and practices, as well as moral issues and philosophy.
Parents have a right to withdraw their child from part or all of the RE curriculum. Should you wish to exercise this right, please write directly to the school, stating your wish, the reasons why and the name of your child, and contact details. You will then be invited to a meeting with a senior member of staff to discuss your request.
